MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

TUESDAY, ARPIL 11, 2017

Community Service.  As noted in last month’s meeting there have been several organizations who appreciate the quilts, pillowcases, and nursing covers that are donated to them.  This month we can continue this positive contribution by guild members bringing their sewing machines and supplies.  Brenda Bloomfield will provide the necessary instructions to make nursing covers, put quilt kits together and whatever we can help with.  Members are encouraged to help and make this a fun gathering.

QUILT SHOW NEWS

The theme for the 2017 San Juan Quilter’s Guild is “Scrappy Melody.”  It is to be held Friday and Saturday, October 13 and 14, 2017 at the Civic Center. We will not be having vendors this year due to limited space for  them.(Civic Center will be under remodeling at this time.)

The Challenge Quilt will be 1 UFO with the story behind that quilt. We are only going to allow 1 UFO per person.

The Opportunity Quilt has been completed by Karen Brimhall and Elllen Vandruff.

We are still in need of items for the Silent /Mini Quilt Auction.  Please see Bev Spelling to give her the items.

There is still a need for a coordinator to run the Hospitality Room and one or more persons to help with the Publicity for the Quilt Show.  If you are interested, please contact me .

I am looking forward to a great Quilt Show in October.

ARTIFACTS QUILT SHOW

Artifacts gallery is giving the Guild the opportunity to sell mini quilts and wall hangings at the gallery during the month of September!  I don’t have much info yet but I will keep members informed through the newsletter, emails and at meetings.  The maximum size is 36” X 36” and all quilts will need sleeves and labels indicating the name of the piece, maker, designer or inspiration and date. In keeping with standard protocol, the gallery keeps 50% of sale price.

Please get involved in this wonderful opportunity to showcase what we can do!

Think creatively…a mini…an art piece…a center medallion…think outside your comfort zone! I urge you to jump on this opportunity.

 Cheryl Hough

Reminder:  Silent Auction – Please be thinking about your silent auction item.  As I mentioned at the last two meetings you can make your donation to the quilts going to the September show at Artifacts.  If your item sells the 50% you earned can be donated to the silent auction and included in total proceeds.  If it doesn’t sell we will include it in the quilt show silent auction.  Happy creating!
