!!!!!!Meet the 2007 SJQG Officers!!!! Lori Cosby--President-- When did you start quilting and why? I started quilting in 1975 when I made a baby quilt for my daughter. Who has had the greatest influence on your quilting? Everyone! Just looking at the beautiful quilts that friends and relatives have made has given me the desire to also create. Just talk about fabric... There is so much fabric and so little time. What is our fondest childhood memory? Learning to sew doll clothes on a neighbor's treadle machine and having tea parties with my best friend and Buttons. Pet peeve? People who are always negative! What color is most like your personality? I think that the color blue best describes me, calm most of the time. Your personal cause? Cure Autism Now is the cause that is closest to my heart. Worst habit? Too many UFO's. One thing you'd really like to learn? I would like to learn to paint. What do you collect? I collect fabric! Is quilting an art or a craft? I really feel that quilting is both an art and a craft. You have to have skills to actually piece a quilt but you also need creativity to visualize your creation. Patty Hanscom--Vice President-- When did you start quilting and why? 1990, I finally had the time to learn and the time to enjoy the art of quilting. Who has had the greatest influence on your quilting? Why? All the teachers I have taken classes from. They introduced me to techniques and ideas. Just talk about fabric: Fabric is a tactile material. I love to feel it and drape it. It is pliable and fun to work with. The colors are fun as well. What has been your worst quilting experience? Running out of fabric, being just a little short while finishing up a quilt top. What is your fondest childhood memory? Vacations with my parents. We camped in the mountains and fished and had a great time in the forests of California. What person, living or dead, would you most like to meet? Pet peeve? People who are negative and put others down. What color is most like your personality? RED Your personal cause? Keeping peace among those I know. Favorite vice? Eating Worst habit? Eating One thing you'd really like to learn? Precision piecing but I am not willing to work too hard at it. If reincarnated, who would come back as? What do you collect?
